It’s a new day in hell and somebody has decided that the Beelzebub radio will only play songs by Pree Tone. They are from Kiev and that can’t be a happy place as the three songs on their cassette “Brights” are almost overpowering as their downbeat motivations are pretty much steamrollered all over your brain.

Imagine, if you will, a perfectly normal prog rock band getting the kind of powerful drugs that only a government could afford to develop and these three songs would be the result after ingestion. Just about exploding behind a wall of distortion is the deconstruction of all that is mainstream rock with the mighty riff of the guitar God being tortured mercilessly into submission. There’s a voice in there, but not so much the voice of a singer as the reincarnation of every tortured soul that has ever been exploited in the musical pantheon. This is metaphysical at maximum volume.

I think my head is about to explode. One of the songs is called “Boundaries of Existence” and I am beginning to believe that it is just that.

The cassette and download is available from Bandcamp.
