There are albums full of songs to sing and there are albums made for moods and Flying Horses – the Canadian instrumental duo of Jade Bergeron and Raphael Weinroth-Browne – have created a very respectable example of the latter with their album “Tölt”.

Some might even consider it an unusual album for today as the songs found within its digital groove are best enjoyed as one with little to be gained by pulling out a particular song. Given the instrumental nature of all that has been created to tease your ears, it could quite reasonably also be said that this album is a soundtrack waiting for a film. Not just any film either but one full of artistic melancholy perhaps even a modern translation of a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.

The fluency of the musicianship – surely the result of a formal musical education – also impresses with the instrumental interplay in ”Carousel” and “Pace” providing sustenance for both mind and heart.  With such ability, mood is easy to create.

A mature and eloquent album, “Tölt” provides more than enough proof that Flying Horses are capable of enchanting discerning ears.
