So what’s happening in Wales, musically speaking, these days? Well, if the nihilistically named EP from Fuck Yeah is anything to go by, the answer is to be found down at the mall and I’m pretty sure therefore that even Wales hasn’t been spared the cultural extermination that is the retail park.

So, with all hope gone and the clear intention to make the Ramones seem like journalists from the Guardian (all paid on per pretentious word basis, don’tcha know), the trio that is Fuck Yeah transcend the attention deficit barrier and keep all their five songs under the two minute barrier but, even with songs this short, the band still manage to squeeze in all the American cultural references that made Debbie Gibson so great.

So there you have it. Five songs that may well be the work of some Welsh lads having fun or, if you are of a philosophical bent, five songs of our time. Crank up the power chords and, as the first song here proclaims, “Fuck It!”
