You’ve got to have a lot of ambition to get anywhere in the music business these days and Los Angeles based band theKI certainly seem to have that.

Their self-titled album attempts to cover many musical bases but, as they say, variety is the spice of life so you can’t really fault the band for that. You might even regard this as an opportunity to compare and contrast the many facets of Roxie Sakura’s voice as she takes on a downright commercial song like “Dirty” and, but a mere breath later, converts herself to almost New Age dynamics to coast through “Face It/Embrace It” as if sailing down the river of life. The bluesy “Let It Go” gives her yet another opportunity to shine and even the spiritual pretension of “Power Up” cannot stop her from taking the song way off the street.

While theKI have no clear musical direction, they clearly do have a sense of adventure that complements their ambition and those two things will undoubtedly serve them well in the future.
