Time for more vinyl (and there’s always time for more vinyl!) with another release on the Off Label Records landing on the turntable of love. This time it is turn of the Mojo Brothers to spin your world at 45rpm with “Don’t Lie To Me”.
“Don’t Lie To Me” turns out to be a romping stomping song low on chords but high in adoration of the sounds of the past with hints of the Yardbirds and even the Ramones kicking this one about the room with foot tapping intent.
It is perhaps no surprise to find that the song on the flipside is about a girl with “Marie Ann” being much in the same vein as its companion on the other side. Hey, you’ve got to have a song about a girl when you are a two man rock ‘n’ roll band and this one fits the bill nicely.
Two songs and some volume – it’s all you really need to get by.
