You can never have too much reverb in my less than humble opinion and it would appear that San Antonio Kid are of the same opinion with both of these songs soaked in end of the tunnel ambience, rock ‘n’ roll revivalism and an appealing world weary laconicism.
“Mystic Waves” is more a Chevy Impala than a Camaro but, as all car buffs with cheque book know, with the right wheels anything can be made cooler than it was when it came out of the factory and the song undoubtedly has that beat up end of the day vibe that would be just perfect for late night cruising.
“It’s Nothing To Me” sticks to much the same tempo but adds a proto country feel due to San Antonio Kid skilfully seasoning their song with an endearing combination of Johnny Cash drawl and Lee Hazelwood quirkiness.
The single is available on limited edition green vinyl from Off Label records.
