A band big in Finland, Satellite Stories hit the five album mark squarely on target with their album “Cut Out The Lights” and duly advance the cause of guitar pop in the 21st century.
Consistency is the name of the game here with each and every song on this album playing with the kind of synchronised eloquence that only time and consequent familiarity will bring. “Cut Out The Lights” flows forward in a consistently upbeat manner, which is unusual enough in these downbeat days, and, unsurprisingly, gives you little reason to hit that skip button with “Coupons” and “Carried Away” being the best examples of the kind of foot tapping and retro flavoured intoxication that a band with no need to run can deliver to your ears.
Some might say that this kind of ear candy has no place in the modern day, but I say that there will always be a place for songs that raise your spirit and “Cut Out The Lights” proves that Satellite Stories can easily provide such songs.
