There I was thinking about having a nice cup of tea and a digestive biscuit when my ears started to spontaneously bleed. The cause? I Will Take You Hunting and their new album “Not Broken”.
“Not Broken” is not an album that worships the gods of metaphors and civilised behaviour. Quite the contrary. This is an album that has been drinking heavily since breakfast and now just wants to make some noise and an angry noise at that as those omnipresent guitars never stray from burning up as many in your face power chords as you can count on the fingers of one hand. Anger is also, refreshingly, on the lyric menu and is served for starter, main course and dessert with those jagged words being barely diluted by being served up with some distinctly retro samples.
Finally, a Scottish band has produced an album that might actually scare your granny. Or maybe not as she didn’t even blink when her cat suddenly exploded last week. Anyway, I Will Take You Hunting are a band that should be served with a side order of excessive volume in a bourbon sauce. It’s a bad attitude thing when it comes down it and I commend their attitude. Now, if only I could find a way to stop my ears bleeding …
