Now this is something that I have looked forward to for a while. Anything from Norway’s pop princess Dagny gets me all excited and “Elle” has no less than eight songs filled with relatable lyrics and Dagny goodness.
Dagny definitely resides at the polished edge of the pop music spectrum and, although she writes as if she wears her heart on her sleeve, it is also abundantly clear that she has solid pop sensibilities and it would not be harsh to say that every one of these songs would fill a festival goer’s heart with joy when it comes to joining in on the chorus. To tell the truth, I almost felt the urge to sing along too but I am much too cool for that even if this album is certainly one that the cool kids will take to their own hearts.
“Elle” is pop music of today and for today with the Dagny magic being her ability to make herself sound real when all that is around her is a synthetic distillation of everything that hits the charts these days.

Verdict: Gloriously commercial.
