Time for another journey into wordless electronica extemporisation from the not entirely invisible Swansither with his album “Ronsack” being inspired by nothing less than a thousand year old oak tree in the Shropshire countryside.

As musical inspiration goes, a thousand year old oak tree that has seen both the agrarian and industrial revolutions would seem to be an excellent choice and Swansither – aka Tom Kennedy – duly unleashes all that is in his synthetic armoury to produce nine ambient contemplations on matters historical that are performed, if not spoken, using the technology of today. Certainly, there is much in the way of atmosphere to be enjoyed here, even if it voiced by the machine, and, with the intimacy that comes with headphone listening, it is not hard to find yourself transported to a different time and place where all that was gains something akin to mystical portent.

At the end of the day, and in the fullness of space and time, “Ronsack” is an effective example of the creation of sonic textures that, while being of the here and now, successfully regenerate a vision of the past in a manner that Dr. Morbius would understand.

The album is available on limited edition vinyl from Bandcamp.
