You might think that our super clean manufactured music business would take affirmative action against an avantgarde/noise rock band from Plovdiv in Bulgaria going by the name pf ТДК as the perfection machine surely cannot tolerate the theatrical posturing and sheer kinetic energy that can be found in “ZHVK”.
I can’t claim to understand the lyrics but with song titles featuring heroin and sewers, it is unlikely that the listener would ever be taken on a trip to a land full of bunny rabbits and fluffy kittens. Indeed they will not for discord and dissonance litter the path to this band’s musical nirvana and, with the aforementioned theatricality turning Nikola Nikolov’s lyrics into weapons of directed discontent, it is not long before you have the volume turned up to the max just to ensure that you can have these three runaway trains of songs pummel your common sense into oblivion.
There is drama here. Of that there is no doubt and, even without understanding a word of Bulgarian, it is not difficult to find yourself being drawn into this band’s, sometimes brutal and sometimes mystical, mindset. If you want evidence of the mark of quality, at the end of these three songs, I wanted more.
