Aggressica are a band from Pittsburgh. I’ve never been to Pittsburgh and, unless I get seriously lost, I never will be but, if through misfortune or malfeasance I end up there, I would be sorely tempted to look up a band called Aggressica as their debut EP “Control” is not without merit.

I hear a lot of guitars on this album yet, from the perspective of the lyrics, you might be led to think that you have actually done a bit of time travelling back to the days of pop punk. These are words that fit right into the square peg in a round hole style yet Aggressica present themselves as something akin to a mainstream rock band with some rather decent guitar solos being sure to keep the denim and leather team always on their side.

It is perhaps unusual for a band that seems synchronised with the needs of Friday night beer drinkers to be accused of being on point with their words yet that is indeed the case with Samantha, for it is she, confidently laying it out like it is. This is, of course, almost the antithesis of the macho rock world but Aggressica manage to walk that line between purpose and parody with a confidence that belies their youth. A band that is worth watching methinks.

Available from Bandcamp and the usual digital places.
