Hey, a third album from Seattle band Linda From Work. Not that I have heard their first two albums but any band from Seattle is likely to find favour with me given my predilection for guitars and attitude.
Duly, Linda From Work - Hillary Tusick, Sam Nowak, Elliott Gregory and Shayla Riday – deliver what is expected of them. Guitars are much to the fore over the course of this album with a clearly intended verisimilitude giving these songs that welcome degree of consistency. If you’ve ever been in a bar of a Friday night with nothing more than your next beer for company then you will know what I mean. The vocals, courtesy of Hillary Tusick, again demonstrate consistency with her almost laconic delivery scoring some unexpected points on the style charts.
Linda From Work have given us an honest album here. Devoid of pretensions, they keep on rolling down the rock road like every song should be the soundtrack to a Friday night. One bourbon, one scotch, one beer and several well-chosen power chords will see you off into the night every time.
