I can’t say that No Entry – the No Entry Band as they were formerly known – are a name that I am familiar with but there were many bands floating about Glasgow in the late 1970s and early 1980s that never attained the level of fame and fortune that their talent deserved. “Days of Rain” collects the output of the band from those days and from their subsequent years.

I was kind of expecting some sort of post punk sound from the earlier tracks on this CD as No Entry – led by Kenneth Turlewicz and Ilona Turlewicz – but their sound is more theatrical in intent as if the ghost of glam rock was chasing this band down the street. Nothing wrong with that, of course, and, likewise, the later songs move further away from their, then current, mainstream competition. Success, of course, would continue to avoid this band yet there is clear evidence of talent so it is reasonable to assume that a failure to comply with the current musical fashion contributed to their return to the shadows.

“Days of Rain” duly collects the output of another band from the days when Glasgow could legitimately claim the crown of musical achievement and will thus be of interest to those who feel nostalgia for those bygone days and to those who just wonder why music was so much better back then.
