You can’t keep a good Glasgow band down. That certainly seems to be true these days as many bands long thought consigned to the crates of record collectors are making a reappearance into the cold light to today. Duly and verily, Restricted Code have released a new album called “Chasing Shadows”.
Restricted Code were from the days of post punk – which was some 30 years ago for those who wonder if a time machine was a real invention – and, despite the passing of time, they can still pump out a respectable amount of energy even if these ten songs are less of their post punk past and more of the arty side of the rock spectrum. That said, there is no denying that thirty years have not depleted this band’s ability to write a decent song and, with bursts of almost angry guitars decorating these songs, they sound like men who regard the passing of time as merely another challenge to be overcome.
Maturity has its benefits and Restricted Code have made an album that reminds us all that the passing of time does not, and cannot, diminish actual talent.
