I can’t say that I ever wanted to be divorced from reality as reality is where the cake and chocolate is and I like cake and chocolate. That said, I know of many who seek such a separation and, for such a separation, they might need a soundtrack something like “Melodies” by Onepointwo.

Albums like this are meant to be listened to in their entirety as there was never any intention to have a hit single hidden in there. Most of what is here sounds distinctly synthetic with the atmosphere – yes, it would seem that the intention here is to create an atmosphere that will support such modern day concepts as self-reflection and pondering on the percentage availability of your digital bandwidth – and, indeed, if such an atmosphere will support the metaphysical weight of you. Loops overlay loops while synthesisers swoop over, under and between your ears as if to imply that matters spiritual are a core component of the programming.

Music has always had the potential for distraction but Onepointwo - aka Kostas Giazla - is less concerned with that aspect preferring instead to create something that can complement thought whilst simultaneously squashing the oppression of silence.

Available on vinyl from Bandcamp.
