Another day, another rock album. Or is it? Of course it is but The Revellers are less pure rock than a hybrid of Celtic influences and power chords with their album “Reactors” containing ten songs that will no doubt work well on the summer festival circuit.
It would seem that is has been a while since the Revellers have released an album yet this is undoubtedly an album from a band full of confidence. Giving the people what they want is the way of The Revellers and, even if your boots aren’t filled with mud and belly isn’t full of beer, there is much to enjoy here. The riffs are sufficiently muscular to keep a rock fan on side and the fiddles and banjos will ensure that those expecting something more traditionally Scottish will have their curiosity piqued by the use of said folk instruments as seasoning in this band’s special sauce.
As albums go, this is a very focused one with each song merging into the others as if all was indeed one. and, with a bit of Shetland poetry thrown in, The Revellers also score some deserved artistic credibility points. “Reactors” might not make you meltdown but even the meek will feel its power.
