It’s been a long week. A very long week. Something lightweight was duly needed to make my weekend playlist somewhat uplifting and “Sepiida” by Swim Swim Naked seemed to be the very thing to do just that.
Swim Swim Naked - singer Krisztina Nagy and producer Dani Makkay – hail from Hungary but they clearly have managed to absorb all the right electro pop influences and they duly make these five songs (plus interludes) seem like the soundtrack to a world rather better than one forced upon us by reality. The loops are simple and the vocals are endearing and, while this might not sound like much, it is a simple fact that you don’t get many musicians willing or able to display such a light touch these days.
“Sepiida” might not sound like much in terms of musical complexity but the truth is that this EP is about as good natured as you will get and you might even find yourself smiling and humming “Cool” or “Hold Tight” as you head home on the bus.
