I doubt that many musicians will want to walk that fine line between the existential and the melodramatic as Lindsay Anderson does on her album “Forgiving” but, in these days of near continuous conformity, such artistic integrity is perhaps unlikely to be aligned with mass adoration.

“Forgiving” duly follows the path set by Lindsay Anderson. Soundbites and songs merge into a ticket to the yellow brick road of the emotions with stories hidden amongst the loops and processed vocals as if forever looking for the right words to explain yesterday, today and tomorrow. This is, of course, the stuff that fuels art and it does not take much in the way of additional imagination to hear, and see, these songs undergoing a transformation into something that would live a new life on the stage.

On her journey to somewhere inside, Lindsay Anderson exorcises the ghost that forever asks questions about all that life brings to us. This album is therefore almost a fable, or at the very least, the intellectualised interpretation of a past reality so that it might make sense to others divorced from the actual events. It is what it is and undoubtedly there’s a message in the middle of the bottom and that message might, one day, shine under the spotlights.
