You can’t go far wrong with a bit of robust alt-pop and London based band Good Time Locomotive duly roll down the time honoured tracks with their third EP “Dimensions” stopping at all the stations that matter on the route to Friday night happiness.

There are plenty of guitars on these six songs, as you might expect, and Good Time Locomotive clearly also know where to put all the hooks that get your average punter to listen and, when combined with some spirited retro stylistic moves, it isn’t really possible to avoid being transported to an altogether better time when the shopping mall was the destination of choice and radio play could transform a band into a king. Maybe you had to be there when this sort of sound was where it was at yet, such is the almost muscular presence of this band that, even those of you who weren’t part of yesterday, will wish that you were.

Robustly performed, “Dimensions” provides enough evidence that Good Time Locomotive should be found guilty of being good in a time when being good at making songs that people might want to remember isn’t actually fashionable. That said, I reckon that there are still plenty of people out there in the here and now who would want to remember Good Time Locomotive.
