Reality and sunshine rarely seem to be holding hands these days so it is no surprise to find introspection and consequent emotional catharsis providing the musical motivation for I Know Her on her EP “At Least I Know How To Love“.
The words used and sentiments expressed are indeed one of soul searching in the context of the matters of the heart but the difference this time around is that ambient textures created by the machine are used to provide the kind of counterpoint that allows I Know Her’s voice to move in a spiritually upward, and obviously human, direction. Like I said before, these songs are of the heart yet it is important to note that they are of a heart of today and not one of classical romanticism.
Today would not seem to be much of a time for joy and, despite the strands of melancholy and soul searching that can be found within the songs that make up “At Least I Know How To Love”, I Know Her nonetheless proves herself capable of making such matters seem part of something that could, in theory, become much more dramatic.
