It is easy to be cynical. It must be because I do it all the time yet there are times when being cynical seems an entirely inappropriate approach especially when the harmonious intertwining of human voices is concerned. Yeah and verily, we have “Criostal” by Absolute Lilt.
I can certainly regard this EP as seven reasons to make me glad I have ears as, while the lilt -this most traditional form of music for and from the Irish poor - has been polished and made pretty with the microfibre cloth of sympathetic modern musical accompaniment, the original concept of straightforward musical entertainment has not been entirely lost in the transfer to the ways of today. Absolute Lilt - Lisa Canny and Niamh Hinch – perform with both confidence and a nicely judged degree of respectful sentimentality for the style of ghost voices from the past.
I would therefore suppose that there is only one thing more pleasing to the ear than the sound of the human voice and that is the sound of two such voices working together.
