Where am I now? Germany, it would appear and I also appear to have acquired a curiously melodic soundtrack to my day in the form of the album “Streik” by Hasa.
Oddly enough, “Steik” doesn’t sound much alike an album of today. Technology , for example, has not overcome genuine musicianship and, with the help of one of those English – German dictionary things, it is also not difficult to determine the almost ironic approach this band take in the matter of lyrics. It is also relevant to note the precision with which these nine songs have been assembled and sequenced as if to be forever ready for both festival performances and, later that same night, the murkier cabaret environment.
As “Streik” is their second album. It would not be unreasonable to expect a notable degree of polish from a band and Hasa do not disappoint in that matter and, if their mix of melody and presentational elegance in matters of harmonious vocals is to your taste, you will find much to make your ears happy on this album especially if the German language is no stranger to you. And, yes, they do guitar solos too.
