It brings me great pleasure to introduce - the latest gathering of perverted love songs from the musical brothel that is - Naked & Shameless! The offering in question owes somewhat to the presence of Crazy Hearse, but that should take little from the unabashed joy this CD should bring you!
"She's So Plush" is a roving psychobilly nod to all those girls with layers to spare. We're talking a sexist incarnation of The Cramps casting all - and I mean absolutely! - all decency aside. Any band who can write a song with such a title are surely worth a listen!
"C'mon Baby Tonight" is one of several offerings of a similar title (and identical sound). Indeed the only downside to this joyous EP is the alternate takes and demos of the few songs that feature on the album in their finished state. While the alternate takes are good in their own right, a greater variety of original material would have been better.
A delightfully country rendition of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" marks the end of proper material from the collective. A demo version of "Soft Curves (Angel of Flesh)" holds much promise as another ode to the "rubenesque" lady. If voluptuous is your thing, this band are right up your street.
The rolling musical enigma known as Naked & Shameless tread a rather lonesome path. A basic sense of depravity and self-deprecation is missing from so much modern music but not here. They're not going to take over the world any time soon, but hopefully this album will cause a few Chicago residents to blow up a Starbucks. The CD is available by worldwide mail order from CD Baby.
