This is pop music of a sort - although not the conventional sort. Often with instrumentation stripped back to the basics, this collection of songs has a subtle and understated feel to it. It is delivered with the minimum of fuss and the maximum impact.
The opening track "Everybody" is a rich sounding and lushly layered song that immediately gets your attention and makes you want to hear more. "Listen" is an acoustic number that allows Ms Little's to come to the fore and is a real treat; on the other hand "Follow That Sound" has a repetitive and almost primal beat that drives it forward in an ever rising swell of sound. "Spaceship" has a church influenced feel to it with great vocals from both Sharon and a trio of backing singers who provide the perfect soprano, alto and tenor harmonies that help make this the track of the album.
Sharon's surprisingly soulful voice adds a depth to the songs written by herself and producer/musician Scot Sax. It requires several listens to really appreciate, however it is worth the effort. It is certainly not quick fix music; it is music to be savoured at your leisure.
