Disember seem to have taken the Orson Welles approach to album making.  Let me explain.  It starts with a cracking track in "Walk Out The Door", the Citizen Kane of the album of you will, and finishes with the equivalent of the dubious sherry adverts in "Drowning".  You shouldn't let this put you off however as there is a fair spattering of highlights in between.

The previously mentioned "Walk Out The Door" is outright pop and certainly one of the catchiest songs we've heard in quite a while.  It's one of those songs that grabs hold of you and won't let go.  The downside however is that is sets the bar almost impossibly high for what follows.  Although a succession of songs gallantly strive to match the heights achieved by that great opener, few succeed.  The ones that get the closest are "What You Did", with a more pronounced acoustic approach permeating the pop-coated rock sound; and "Broken Down" which is a sharply observed and a subtlety delivered acoustic number with cello accompaniment about the pain of breaking up.

They may have some lows; however they also deliver their fair share of highs along the way.  And when they get it right, they really do get it right - perhaps this may be a band to watch out for in the not to distant future.
