An interesting change of pace for Wee Pop Records with this release from Endless Bummer, who hail from San Diego. This threesome have gone and introduced a big chunk of satire into the mix. It still sounds like an entry in the twee pop genre with minimalist accompaniment and a hint of the Morrissey about the male vocals. You'll not be finding a guitar solo here!

However, the lyrics are what make this release a bit different. I don't know if you remember the satirical television programmes of the sixties - like That Was The Week That Was -  in the UK but they did the sort of thing that Endless Bummer do. Put a commentary on cultural expansion in the Far East to a backing track and you have "Baseball in China". Pretension gets explored in "Boring But Beautiful". You'll be getting the picture by now. Education was not wasted on David Barclay, Kipling Mitchell and Natalie Snoyman (who make up Endless Bummer). Quite smart all round.

There is also the usual delightful Wee Pop Records packaging to tempt you so go buy a copy. Say no to downloads! No, I don't know what all this had to do with Donald Fagen.

Available by mail order from Wee Pop Records.
