Christmas can be a very depressing side of the year. Especially if you don't have any beer. Help is at hand however. No, not free beer but happy songs from the kind of people who understand your needs during the festive season. People like the two good gentlemen called Matt and Tony who make up Christmas With Beer.
A bit of research indicated that this is not their first offense with a similar selection of oddball - let's go with that description - songs with a festive flavour being released on an annual basis. Mind you, it's a dysfunctional world that they live in as Santa gets wasted in "The Night Before Christmas" and vomits in his sack of presents. Fortunately our Matt and Tony come up with a Wayne's World type solution. There are songs about cute cuddly animals as well - as there should be - and the tale of the downfall of Lenny the Christmas Possum will surely touch your heart. Traditional songs like "Silent Night" are treated to a re-arrangement that involves a kazoo (!). A green and red kazoo of course, just to keep things respectful. Oh, and there's this berserk version of "Feliz Navidad" as well… As the band's name suggests, Christmas (and Christmas songs!) seems to be much better with beer.
This album is about as good as it gets for a collection of Christmas songs. Not sure if that is actually a compliment but then again maybe I've just not had enough beer. Sixteen songs is stretching the joke a bit far but then again an album that gets the beer bubbles coming out of your nose must have merit. There's a thought. I'll just have me another beer and listen again. Beer bubbles are funny.
