Ever wondered what all that music that accompanies your nights on the town would sound like if it were actually played by real musicians instead of being created on computers? That's pretty much what you get with this self titled album from Brazilian band Binario with this collection of beautifully played songs.
It's like a history of music for night clubs. Track after track of sinuous grooves ("Ibirapuera"), funk grooves ("Balinha") and ambient experimentation ("L.K.J.") slide out of the speakers like they had been greased. The musicianship here is of the highest order and all the songs would surely be welcome on your better class of dance floor and even though they are mostly instrumental, they are not short on emotion.
One more thing about this album. It was very volume sensitive. Hard to explain in words, but the louder you played it the more focused and powerful the music became. If you played it quietly then it made for good background music being pleasant without actually attracting your attention. Crank it up and it was a whole different ball game. Classy!
