The world gets smaller very day. When Bluesbunny started, we never thought too much about music outside our own country and the mighty USA of course. Nowadays, music from all over the world clatters through the letterbox at Bluesbunny Towers. This 6 track mini album came all the way from Sweden and is by rock band Stone Antica.
Given the mainstream appeal of the opening songs "Can't Get Out", this band has clearly set out to compete on the world stage. Martin Sommansson's vocals have power and - dare I say it - grace to sell any song to any audience anywhere and his vocal talents are best appreciated on songs like the mid-paced "Dying Rose" (where he easily bears comparison to the likes of Chris Cornell) and the proto-epic "The Fan".
This is a confidently performed collection of songs that are just a bit nondescript and probably because of that Stone Antica could as easily have come from England, America or Australia as Sweden. Whilst every genre has its expectations and limitations, they need to come up with something to make them stand out from the crowd. Reckon they might just manage it though!
