The summer's coming, so it'll soon be time to visit the local country park with a large grill and enough alcohol to satisfy a Bluesbunny (that could be quite a lot). However, no such evening is complete without music. "Dog Tracks" is the latest release from Michigan based schmooze-blues outfit The Fabulous Horndogs and sounds an ideal accompaniment to those lazy drunken nights. Roll on summer!

Owing as much to the pleasure-seeking lounge musicians of old as to blues standards, this CD is party fodder straight from the opening notes of "For You My Love". However, it's not all upbeat. "Blues As Blues Can Get" is a nicely overdramatic, self-parodic shipping of minor-key blues. You can drink to this one.  Actually, you can drink to all of them.

"Cease and Desist" returns to party mode, straying into jazz territory, while "Must've Been The Devil" is what Jimmy Reed would've sounded like in a booze-addled jam with the Blasters in their prime. By the time the final bars of "Oh Why" ring out the speakers your hunger will be satisfied. Failing that, you'll have passed out drunk "Drinking Tanqueray".

"Dog Tracks" could be your feel-good album of the year. Opting to go for full-throttle fun these fellas have nailed the bullseye. Go out and buy this if you want to party this summer.

Available from CD Baby.
