Even when you're not in the mainstream, you're in the mainstream. That's the impression I got from this album from Jill Stevenson. She's had a few albums out before and this follows their example highlighting her abilities as a singer fronting a solid band.

No surprises in the songs either. They're all melodic and - to damn them with faint praise - radio friendly. The laconic charms of "Sugar Sweet" are obvious to anyone's ears and "Six Weeks" could even find a friend in middle of the road Nashville. There's nothing wrong with commercial ambition of course, but when everybody else has the same plan then you have to wonder about your chance of success.

This is a mini album that I can't really find any fault with. However, I doubt that I would ever come to love it. Maybe it is just too polished for my tastes?
