The facts first. This compilation is a limited edition of only 50 copies and comes on a little three inch compact disc. Now to the opinions…

First up is Desmond Reed with "The Best Part". I recall this guy doing an amusingly psycho song about some kind of rodent. This time he gives us a lightweight love song. Seems that he doesn't do lust which is a shame. Moving swiftly on to the very lo-fi "Overbored" by The Elated Sob Story. I think I'll file that one under failed techno adventures in bedsit land. Eggnog's "You're Right" somehow manages to balance ineptitude and quirkiness. Something rather better comes from Sweet Sweet Concorde with "Time to Die". It's a proper song with a chorus and everything (including style).

Mike Downey makes an awkward attempt at electronic psychedelia with "How Kind Harbor". Not as bad as it sounds. The Temponauts take a rather more melodic route and come out on top with "She's (an) Animal". The Death Valley Sleepers do a bit of time travelling back to late sixties California but it is easy to forgive them for that. The song was "Small Town Bells" and it's ringing in my ears now.

As with all such compilations, you're not going to like everything here but the best track here is undoubtedly "Time to Die" from Sweet Sweet Concorde.

Available from Series Two Records.
