As soon as the needle hits the groove, you are left with no doubt that you are listening to a relentlessly joyful slice of electro pop music. "We Are Here To Save You" is uplifting in that way that all good pop songs should be. There probably isn't much of a socio-political point to be made with this song but that's hardly the issue for this is a song to make you feel good and Sugar Crisis (made up of Neil Brunton and Lorna Anthony) are certainly here to save us all from musical mediocrity.
For such purveyors of joy to the world, they were always going to have to drag in something from someone else if they wanted to change the mood so off to the catalogue of My Chemical Romance they went for some inspired plundering of the gloriously bombastic "Welcome to the Black Parade". Actually this is quite an interesting choice for this band. I kind of expected that a parody would be on the cards but it in reality this is a carefully considered and respectful version that, while distinctly different, stays true to the spirit of the song. It does grow on you, trust me
I know this is an mp3 world and we are talking an electro pop band but, funnily enough, vinyl seemed like the most appropriate way of presenting these songs.
