After a couple of solo albums, Glasgow's own Vivien Scotson has teamed up with Patrick Bullen and this mini album is the first result of their collaboration. I'm a big fan of Ms Scotson so this album should have made me a very happy bunny but it didn't.

There's nothing wrong with the songs. There's the catchy "Set in Stone" (fast becoming her signature tune) and the live favourite "The Lights Go Out", for example. The trouble here is the execution of these songs. For the most part, they sound like demos and, oddly, Patrick Bullen sounds remarkably weedy throughout. Now, I've seen him live and he doesn't sound like that at all.

Ms Scotson is undoubtedly a world class talent and Mr Bullen is no slouch either but they will have to do better than this release to compete with the big boys (and girls).
