Dave Arcari
Dreamt I was 100
From the album "Come with Me"
Buzz Records BRS032006
For those of who do not know him, Dave Arcari is a part musician, part madman. His manic performances and aggressive resonator guitar playing are a delight to those who have experienced him.
Looking for a good example of the blues for today, we came across this track from his album "Come with Me". You get all the classic references that take us all the way back to when Robert Johnson went down to the crossroads and sold his soul. In similar manner, Dave Arcari tells us of meeting dead relatives on ("… seeing the dead is a bad sign") on the road to redemption. With only a shiny resonator guitar instead of a sword for company, he walks the path that all true bluesmen must walk. They say the Devil has all the best tunes but Dave Arcari has managed to nick one of them and I don't think that the Devil would dare ask for it back.
