Rain, big puddles and umbrellas everywhere. It's Glasgow and it's wet. Again. Time to steer the canoe to Pivo Pivo for there is work to be done.
I like to do some research on bands that I haven't heard of before and I hadn't heard of Heart Beats. It appears they are actually the remnants of another band and they certainly sounded like they were missing something as they droned on and on without ever getting to the point. Mind you, that's probably ear candy if you are a shoegazer.
Macabre Scene were on next. Staying within the confines of the indie genre proved no challenge to this band. There were occasional signs of a sense of musical adventure but it was only too easy to miss those moments of hope.
The Morgue Party Candidate proved rather more animated than the previous two bands and made a decent attempt at entertaining the audience with their offbeat take on indie rock. Although distinctly untidy in terms of their performance, they were easily the best band of the night.
Last on were Campfires in Winter. It sounded like they were trying to be a proper rock band - and they did have a very decent drummer who would excel in such a band - but they ended up tripping over their own haircuts. They've got the power chords, they've even got a sense of the melodramatic but they tried too hard to be trendy.
Sometimes you wonder if your purpose in life is to get a hangover. There have been a few times like that lately. She forgives me so I go home happy.
